TNBUN was born from a simple but radical idea: that the Black community deserves a media platform that tells its stories with honesty, pride, and purpose.
The National Black Unity News was founded in 2019 by David Murphy in Baltimore, Maryland — a city with a rich history of Black excellence, resilience, and community organizing. David saw a gap in the media landscape: a lack of authentic, community-driven journalism that spoke directly to the experiences, aspirations, and business interests of Black Americans.
TNBUN is the newest and fastest-growing periodical in the nation catered to and focused on the Black Community. We are more than a newspaper — we are a movement, a marketplace, and a megaphone for Black excellence.
From Baltimore to Los Angeles, we are building the infrastructure for Black economic power — connecting entrepreneurs, amplifying community voices, and creating pathways to generational wealth.
"We have to work together — connect, collaborate, and build the community we love. TNBUN is the connection point for all the movers and shakers in the Black Community."
We believe that collective action and community solidarity are the foundations of Black economic and social progress.
We tell the real stories of our community — not the narratives that others craft for us. Our journalism is by us, for us.
Every story we publish, every business we feature, every connection we make is in service of building Black wealth and economic independence.
We are not a corporation. We are a community institution — accountable to the people we serve, not to advertisers or political interests.
